COMMANDER

      Brigadier general Cristian-Daniel DAN

      BG DAN was born in July 28, 1972 in Bistriţa, Romania. He began his military career in 1986, by attending one of the oldest Romanian military high schools for 4 years. He is a graduate of the Romanian Land Forces Academy and he was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant into the Infantry in 1993.
      As a junior officer he served in the 227th Infantry Regiment “General Gheorghe Avramescu” as an Infantry Platoon Leader and Company Commander. 

      Throughout his military career his postings included: Public Affairs staff officer within the 4th Territorial Army Corps HQ; Chief of Observer-Controller Office within the Romanian Joint National Training Centre; Chief of Staff of 812th Infantry Battalion; Chief of Plans and Training Office within the 81st Mechanized Brigade; Commander of the 32nd Infantry Battalion “Mircea”; and Deputy Chief of Staff for Support within Headquarters Multinational Division South-East. 

      Talking about operational experience, during his military career he deployed for a seven months tour to Iraq as a Public Affairs Officer in 2004 and he deployed twice to Afghanistan, first as the Chief of Staff for 812th Maneuver Battalion in 2010, and second as Commander of 2nd Maneuver Battalion in 2013.

      In May 2017, he was assigned as deputy commander of the Multinational Brigade South-East and appointed commanding officer of the brigade on August 3.
He was promoted to Brigadier General on December 1, 2018, on Romania National Day.
      BG DAN is a graduate of the Basic and Advanced Officer courses from the German Army's Infantry School, in Hammelburg, Germany and the Command and General Staff course from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, USA.

      In 2015 he graduated from The US Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA, with a Master in Strategic Studies.
      Amongst many other courses, BG DAN attended the Terrorism and Security Studies course at George C. Marshall Centre in Garmisch-Partenkirchen,
Germany, the NATO Senior officer policy course and NATO Senior Officer Information Operations Course both at NATO School, Oberammergau, Germany.

      His principal honorary awards and decorations include: the Military Virtue Order - Knight and Officer, the “Romanian Army Medal of Honor ”, the “Romanian Defense Staff Medal of Honor ”, the ”Romanian Land Forces Medal of Honor”, the NATO “Non Article 5” Medal, and honorary signs In the Army’s Service for 15, 20 and 25 years of activity in the Army.
